Reconstruction may be an important part of surgery involving the skull or skull base. Planning begins before the procedure and considers the location of the surgical opening, the tissues involved, and the need to create a stable separation between cranial spaces and nearby structures.

The reconstructive plan is integrated with the larger surgical strategy so that access, tumor treatment, closure, and recovery are considered together. Each recommendation is tailored to the procedure and the patient’s anatomy.
